When recovery isn’t meeting your expectations, TAKE ACTION: Change your expectations!
It’s okay to adjust your expectations of recovery👍…sometimes you just have to.
In my e-book, Understanding, I talk about this very thing…”I wanted a life that didn’t require constant numbing in order to survive it. I wanted to be free from the pain, not be held captive by it. That’s what I wanted more than anything else and that’s when my idea of recovery changed. I redirected my focus onto my emotional well-being and recovery became a process of uncovering and accepting every emotion I have and then spending time caring for it, allowing it, for as long as needed.”
Recovery is definitely a journey – and it’s one that really gets interesting when it stops being a fight and starts becoming an exciting adventure!
It may seem like a small thing to do but you can take action and change your expectations!
Tomorrow, June 2nd, in honor of World Eating Disorders Action Day, I’ll be sharing a video (on my YouTube channel – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClLb8XHp39QqJ4VNOD7hC9g ) in which I will share some of my own personal experiences of recovery in hopes of encouraging others who might be struggling with their own.
Recovery is anything but linear and will look different for each individual. I want to encourage you to honor your own journey and to never give up! ❤
